Dani + Luke | A Golden Hour Engagement at Yellow Creek

Dani and Luke’s session at Yellow Creek State Park was one of those evenings that just felt timeless. Despite being smack in the middle of a summer heatwave, these two were completely up for anything. I had them trekking across fields, down wooded paths, and along the lake—all with the sun pouring golden light around us. It was the kind of evening photographers dream of.

We chose to shoot in the evening to take full advantage of golden hour, and the results were everything I hoped for and more. The way the sunlight hugged them, the soft breeze rolling off the water, and the quiet, peaceful setting created a perfect backdrop for their connection to shine. Every time Dani looked at Luke, she lit up, and Luke looked at her like she was the only person in the world.

From stolen kisses in the tall grass to candid laughs along the water’s edge, these two made every frame feel intimate and personal. They were so natural together—it felt like I was simply documenting a sweet date night rather than a session.

One of my favorite parts of the evening came right at the end. As the sun dipped below the trees and the air cooled just a bit, Luke pulled out his guitar and started playing for Dani. She sat beside him, completely at ease, swaying to the music with the most content smile on her face. It’s one of her favorite things about him—this quiet, musical side that shows just how deep their bond runs.

Capturing that moment felt like something out of a movie, and I knew it was a core memory in the making.

Dani and Luke, thank you for trusting me to document your love story. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for you two!
