Letting Kids Be Kids: Why Messy Sessions Make the Most Timeless Photos

It’s rare that kids are allowed to paint all over their clothes—let alone mom’s clothes. But if you know me, you know I’m all about letting kids be kids during sessions. So this time, Milana had full permission to paint anywhere her little heart desired.

And honestly? That freedom created magic.

There’s something so special about the images that come out of a fun, messy session like this. They’re timeless in a way that posed photos often aren’t. Instead of worrying about keeping a dress perfectly pressed or making sure hair stays smoothed down during the car ride, we get to capture your child exactly as they are—joyful, curious, expressive, and completely immersed in the moment.

These are the memories that last. The ones that feel real. The ones you look back on and feel.

Because childhood isn’t perfect poses—it’s creativity, chaos, giggles, and more color than you ever thought possible.

And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
